Well, I don’t usually do birthday posts, but this year is a bit different. No one could have expected we’d all be stuck inside and our normal lives would be put on hold. Many of you guys don’t know this, but back in January before everything kinda hit the fan - I had packed up all my belongings, took the leap, followed my dream of living abroad and moved to Australia. Man, I could not have picked a worse time ahaha. I was there with my cousin on a travel visa and we needed to apply for a real visa to be able to work in Australia. If you don’t know - you have to be outside of the country to apply. So we figured we would pop into Bali real quick, apply, then head back. Well that’s where things took a funny turn. A couple days into Bali, we received an email from the airline we had booked our return flights through. Australia had banned all incoming international flights... until mid June. Ok. So what now? We didn’t plan on being here long, but were now stuck. About a week into our stay my cousin lost his debit card, I gave him so much crap for it. Then almost as a bit of irony/karma a week later I lost my card. Shit. So now, not only were we stuck in a foreign country during a pandemic, but now had no access to money. Luckily we had a few rupiahs left to last us a few days, maybe a week max, to figure things out. We had been staying at airbnbs this whole time and decided the best thing was to tell our host what our situation was. Our host, Yanick, came through big time. He and his wife made us meals every day while we wait for new cards to be sent to us via mail. In the mean time my mom came through with the western union transfer, shout out mom 💕, so not struggling as much, but man... it was bleak for a minute there. Today, on my birthday Im feeling real thankful for family, thankful for friends, thankful for the kindness of strangers during this rough time. Remember we are all going through this together and to be kind to one another. Anyways here is an iphone shot from the last sunset before full quarantine, cheers!
